Heart Health and Quality Fish Oil

Lowering triglycerides can be achieved through healthy choices, while omega-3 fish oil supplements reduce inflammation and decrease the risk of heart-related issues.

Triglycerides and belly fat increase your risk of heart attack, and stroke.

Elevated blood glucose, even if in the pre-diabetes range, damages the lining of blood vessels, decreases blood circulation throughout the body including skin, feet, genitals, kidneys, heart, eyes and brain.

If your blood glucose goes too high after eating your body needs to lower the glucose to keep it from damaging your blood vessels. Your body changes the sugars into blood triglycerides and belly fat. Triglycerides are part of your cholesterol fats. It’s unclear at this time if the elevated triglycerides increase the above health risks or if its the original elevated blood glucose levels that damage the blood vessels and therefore the organs in your body.

Healthy choices to lower elevated triglycerides include losing weight, cutting back on processed and high glycemic index carbohydrates, avoid sugar, fructose (soda pop, sports drinks and many juices) and artificial sweeteners, limit alcohol, and exercise 30 minutes most days of the week.

Omega-3’s Lower Triglycerides

Omega-3 fish oil fats dissolve triglyceride fats. It often takes 4 large capsules daily of most rx or OTC fish oil capsules to lower triglycerides. Newer fish oil omega-3 supplements are concentrated, better absorbed and don’t require as many capsules.

Omega-3’s are good for the heart because they

  • Reduce inflammation that can damage the blood vessels and lead to heart disease and strokes
  • Lower blood pressure slightly
  • Reduce blood clots
  • Decrease the risk of heart attack and stroke
  • Reduce the risk of irregular heart beat

My Favorite Fish Oil Omega-3

My favorite fish oil Omega-3 capsules are enteric coated so they rarely cause burping or belching. I recommend Vital EPA/DHA EC 1300 because it’s absorbed 3 times better than most fish oil capsules. Most people just need 1 capsule 1-2 times daily.
