RestorFlora combines a beneficial yeast, Saccharomyces boulardii, with two spore-forming bacteria, Bacillus subtilis HU58 and Bacillus clausii. It is taken to support a balanced gut environment and normal digestion.*

Saccharomyces boulardii is a yeast rather than a bacterium. That distinction matters practically, because it is not affected by antibiotics, which is why it is the strain most often taken alongside a course of them.*
Bacillus subtilis HU58 and Bacillus clausii are spore-forming bacteria. The spore coat lets them survive stomach acid and reach the intestine intact.*
Microbiome Labs added the two Bacillus strains because S. boulardii on its own, while well studied, is limited in what it covers.

Can I take RestorFlora while I am on antibiotics?
This is the most common reason people buy it. Saccharomyces boulardii is a yeast, so antibiotics do not affect it the way they affect bacterial probiotics. On exact timing, call us.
Does it need refrigeration?
No. Both the yeast and the spore-forming bacteria are shelf stable.
How is it different from a regular probiotic?
Most probiotics are bacteria only, usually Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. RestorFlora is a yeast plus two spore-forming bacteria.
Is it the same as Saccharomyces boulardii on its own?
No. Flourish carries S. boulardii by itself as well. RestorFlora is that plus the two Bacillus strains.
